My Story. Once upon a time I had hair. And it seems I always
had an interest in photography. But it was not until I was in college that I started photographing professionally. I studied
photojournalism at the University of Minnesota and began my career as a freelancer while still in school. I also did video
work in those early years before the advent of non-linear editors and digital technology. More than a decade passed quickly
while serving a wide range of clients in the Twin Cities. I always remained independent and most of my assignments were for
advertising and public relations needs with an occasional editorial shoot. I resisted specialization preferring to learn and
experience from as many different photo adventures as I could. After traveling the U.S. for about a year I began the
adventure of starting a family, so I left the world of freelance, joined a large media corporation and relocated to Madison,
Wisconsin. For six years I was the Creative Services Manager at a broadcast TV station which allowed me to return to doing
video production while remaining active in serving advertising clients. I wrote, produced, directed, shot and edited hundreds
of TV commercials and produced numerous TV specials while managing a small production staff. Though I loved doing video I
missed still photography and I also missed watching my two boys grow up. So I resigned from full-time corporate work and returned
to freelancing. I retooled to all digital still cameras, upgraded my studio grip and lighting equipment and set up a computer
system with non-linear editing and imaging software. I can’t boast about fancy awards and photo contest wins but I did
take pride in being able to deliver good, effective photography at a reasonable price in a timely fashion. Satisfying my clients’
needs was always my top priority. |
